1. Introduction
Listr AI ("Listr AI", "we", "us", or "our") is a food tracking app for iPhone and Android that helps you record what is in your pantry, fridge, and freezer, track expiry dates, get reminders before food spoils, and find recipe ideas based on what you already own. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
This policy applies to the Listr AI mobile app, our website at listrai.app, and any related services. By using Listr AI, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect only what we need to run the service. The information falls into the following categories.
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text. If you sign in with a third-party provider in the future, we receive only the basic profile details that provider shares.
App usage data
To provide the core features, we store the content you create: your lists, the items you add, their quantities and expiry dates, the recipes you view or save, and your streak and reminder preferences. This is the data that makes the app useful to you.
Device information
For reliability and crash reporting we may collect basic device details such as operating system version, app version, and device type. This helps us fix bugs and improve performance. It is not used to identify you personally.
Payment information
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your card number, expiry, or security code. Stripe handles all card data and shares only a subscription status and a customer reference with us so we can unlock your plan.
Location data
We do not collect your location. Listr AI does not request or use GPS, and we do not track where you are.
Camera and photos
If you use the scanning features, the app asks for camera permission. Camera images are used only to read a barcode, identify a product, or read a printed expiry date so we can fill in item details. We do not store these photos on our servers unless you explicitly attach a photo to an item, in which case it is saved to your own account.
3. How we use your data
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the app, including saving your lists and items and syncing them to your account.
- Send reminders and notifications you have enabled, such as expiry alerts and streak nudges.
- Process and manage your subscription through Stripe.
- Power features you request, such as scanning a product or generating recipe ideas.
- Diagnose problems, improve performance, and make the app better over time.
- Respond to your support requests and communicate important service updates.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your lists or items for advertising.
4. Data storage
Your data is stored on your device and, when cloud sync is enabled, in our database hosted by Supabase. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. Backups are taken regularly so your data can be restored if something goes wrong. Our servers and backups may be located in the United States, the European Union, or Australia depending on the hosting region, and may be processed in any country where we or our service providers operate.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the service. Each receives only the data needed for its function.
- Supabase (database and authentication). Stores your account and synced app data. See the Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Stripe (payments). Processes subscription payments and stores card data on its own secure systems. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (AI features). When you use AI scanning or recipe features, the relevant photo or item details are sent to the Claude API to return a result. See the Anthropic Privacy Policy.
- Open Food Facts (barcode database). When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is looked up in the Open Food Facts database to retrieve product details. See the Open Food Facts privacy information.
- Resend (transactional email). Sends account and support emails, such as confirmations and replies. See the Resend Privacy Policy.
We may add crash reporting or analytics providers in the future. If we do, we will update this policy and list them here.
6. Your rights
We respect the rights granted under the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Australian Privacy Act, and we extend these choices to all users. You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Download a copy of your data in a portable JSON format.
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Correct any inaccurate information, which you can do directly in the app.
- Opt out of notifications at any time from the app settings or your device settings.
To exercise any of these rights, use the tools in the app or email support@listrai.app.
7. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your data from our live systems and retain it in backups for a grace period of up to 30 days, after which it is permanently deleted. We may retain a minimal record of transactions where required by law or for legitimate accounting purposes.
8. Children's privacy
Listr AI is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Connections use HTTPS, passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and data is encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. No system is perfectly secure, so while we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the app evolves or the law changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Listr AI after a change means you accept the updated policy.
