Getting started
How do I create an account?
Open Listr AI and tap "Get started, it's free" on the welcome screen. Enter your name, email address, and a password of at least six characters, then tap to create your account. You are taken straight into the app with two starter lists, Pantry and Fridge, ready for your first item.
The Free plan does not need any payment details, so you can start tracking food in under a minute.
How do I verify my email?
After you sign up we send a confirmation email to the address you provided. Open it and tap the verification link to confirm your account. If it does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.

How do I sign in on multiple devices?
Cloud sync is on the way. Today your lists are saved on the device where you created them, which keeps the app fast and works fully offline.
When cross-device sync launches, you will simply sign in with the same email and password on any phone or tablet and see the same lists everywhere. We will let Pro and Premium members know as soon as it is available.
What is the difference between Free, Pro, and Premium?
Free lets you keep up to 2 lists and 10 items with manual add, edit, and delete plus basic expiry alerts. It is free forever.
Pro ($7.99/month or $69.99/year) unlocks unlimited lists, up to 100 items, search and sort, bulk CSV import, smart expiry scheduling, and 200 recipe suggestions per month.
Premium ($12.99/month or $119.99/year) adds AI camera auto-fill, barcode product lookup, unlimited items and recipe ideas, item photos, and priority support. Pro and Premium both include a 7-day free trial.
Managing items
How do I add an item to my list?
Tap the Add tab at the bottom of the screen. Type the item name, pick the list it belongs to, set a quantity, and choose an expiry date. Tap save and it appears at the top of your list with a colour-coded expiry badge.
You can add as many details as you like or keep it to just a name and a date. It is up to you.
How do I scan a barcode to add a product?
On Premium, open the Add tab and choose the Barcode option. Point your camera at the product barcode and Listr AI looks it up in the Open Food Facts database to fill in the name, brand, and size automatically.
You then set the expiry date and save. This is the fastest way to add packaged groceries.
How do I use the camera to scan a product and auto-fill expiry?
Premium members can use AI camera scanning. Open the Add tab, choose the camera scan option, and take one photo of the product or its printed date. Listr AI reads the photo and fills in the item details, including the expiry date when it can read it.
Always double-check the date it suggests against the package before you save.
Can I edit or delete items?
Yes. Tap any item to open it, change the name, quantity, list, or expiry date, and save. To remove an item, use the delete option on the item, or mark it as used when you have eaten it.
Marking items as used helps keep your streak going and keeps your lists tidy.
What do the coloured expiry badges mean?
The badge colour tells you how soon something needs attention at a glance. Green means there are 4 or more days left. Amber means it expires within the next 1 to 3 days. Red means it has expired or expires today.
Sorting by expiry brings the red and amber items to the top so you know what to use first.
How do I add items to different lists?
When adding or editing an item, choose which list it belongs to from the list selector. Your starter lists are Pantry and Fridge, and you can create more, such as Freezer, from the Lists tab.
The Free plan supports up to 2 lists. Pro and Premium allow unlimited lists.
How many items can I have on the Free plan?
The Free plan supports up to 10 items in total across all your lists. This is plenty to track the things most likely to spoil.
When you reach the limit, you can remove an item or upgrade to Pro for up to 100 items.
How many items can I have on the Pro plan?
Pro supports up to 100 items across unlimited lists, which is enough for a fully stocked kitchen.
If you want no limit at all, Premium offers unlimited items.
Can I have unlimited items on Premium?
Yes. Premium removes the item cap entirely, so you can track as much as you like.
Premium also unlocks AI camera scanning, barcode lookup, item photos, and unlimited recipe ideas.
Expiry alerts and notifications
How do I turn on expiry alerts?
When you first sign up, Listr AI asks for permission to send notifications. Allow it and expiry alerts switch on automatically. You can manage them any time under Settings, in the notifications section.
If you skipped the permission, open your device settings for Listr AI and enable notifications there, then return to the app.
When will I get expiry notifications?
Listr AI sends a small number of timely reminders so you are nudged before food spoils, not buried in alerts. Reminders are capped at two per day, a morning and an evening slot, and focus on the items closest to their expiry date.
You also get gentle streak reminders to keep your check-in habit going.
Can I customise when I get notifications?
Yes. In Settings you can adjust your reminder preferences and set your quiet hours so alerts never arrive at a bad time.
Listr AI keeps the total volume low by design, so you stay informed without being overwhelmed.
What are quiet hours and how do I set them?
Quiet hours are a window, such as overnight, when Listr AI will not send notifications. Any reminder that would land during your quiet hours is shifted to the next available slot.
Set your start and end time in Settings under notifications. The default is from 10pm to 8am.
How do I stop getting notifications?
You can turn reminders off in Settings, or disable notifications for Listr AI entirely in your device settings.
You can re-enable them at any time, and your expiry data is never affected by turning alerts on or off.
Recipes and meal planning
How do I get recipe suggestions?
On Pro and Premium, open the Home screen and look at the Recipe Ideas section. Listr AI matches recipes to what is in your pantry and shows the best ideas. Tap Refresh to see a fresh set.
The matching runs entirely on your device, so it is instant and works even with no internet connection.
Do recipe suggestions use items that are about to expire?
Yes. Listr AI gives extra weight to ingredients backed by an item expiring within the next few days, so the ideas you see are mostly about using up what needs eating first.
This is the heart of the app: turning what is about to spoil into your next meal.
Can I save recipes for later?
The Recipe Ideas section re-scores against your live pantry every time you open it, so the suggestions always reflect what you actually have. You can refresh for new ideas whenever you like.

How many recipes can I get per month?
Recipe ideas are a paid feature. The Free plan does not include them. Pro includes 200 recipe suggestions per month, and Premium gives you unlimited recipe ideas.
Because matching happens on your device, the ideas appear instantly with no waiting.
Subscriptions and billing
How do I upgrade to Pro or Premium?
Open Settings and tap the upgrade or manage plan option. This opens our secure billing page in your browser, where checkout is handled by Stripe. Choose monthly or annual, start your 7-day free trial, and your new plan unlocks right away.
You can switch between monthly and annual at any time.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings and open the billing portal, which is managed by Stripe. From there you can cancel in a couple of taps. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
If you cancel during your free trial, you will not be charged.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, we offer a 14-day refund window on your first purchase of a paid plan. After that window, payments are non-refundable except where required by law.
To request a refund, email support@listrai.app with the email address on your account.
Why is my subscription being charged to a card I do not recognise?
All Listr AI payments are processed by Stripe, a global payment provider. The charge on your statement may appear with a Stripe-related descriptor rather than the word Listr.
If you still do not recognise a charge, contact support@listrai.app and we will look into it with you.
Can I change my subscription tier?
Yes. Open the billing portal from Settings to move between Pro and Premium, or between monthly and annual billing. Changes take effect from your next billing cycle, and any difference is handled by Stripe.
You can also downgrade to Free at any time by cancelling your paid plan.
Do you offer student or family discounts?
Not at launch. For version 1 we are keeping pricing simple with Free, Pro, and Premium tiers.
We may introduce student or family options in the future. Tell us what you would like at feedback@listrai.app.
What is included in the 7-day free trial?
The trial gives you full access to the plan you choose, Pro or Premium, for 7 days at no charge. A payment method is required to start, and the plan auto-renews at the standard price when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
Cancel any time during the trial from the billing portal and you will not be charged.
Technical and troubleshooting
The barcode scanner is not working. What do I do?
First, make sure Listr AI has camera permission in your device settings and that the lens is clean and well lit. Hold the barcode steady and fully inside the frame. Some products are not in the Open Food Facts database, in which case you can add the item manually.
If scanning still fails, close and reopen the app, and check you are on the Premium plan, which includes scanning. Still stuck? Email support@listrai.app.
My lists are not syncing across devices. How do I fix this?
Cross-device sync is not live yet. Right now your lists are stored on the device where you created them, so they will not appear on a second device.
We are building sync now and will notify Pro and Premium members the moment it ships. In the meantime, your data is safe on your device.
The app keeps crashing. How do I troubleshoot?
Start by closing the app fully and reopening it, then make sure you are running the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. Restarting your device clears most temporary issues.
If crashes continue, email support@listrai.app with your device model and OS version so we can investigate.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the sign-in screen, choose the password reset option and enter your account email. We will send you a link to set a new password.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder, then contact support@listrai.app for help.
How do I delete my account and all my data?
Open Settings and use the delete account option in the data and privacy section. This permanently removes your account and your lists and items.
Deletion cannot be undone. If you would like a copy of your data first, use the export option before you delete.
Privacy and security
Is my data secure?
Yes. Connections use HTTPS, passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and when cloud sync is enabled your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting provider.

Can I download my data?
Yes. You can export a copy of your lists and items in a portable JSON format from the data and privacy section in Settings.
This lets you keep your own backup or move your data elsewhere whenever you want.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
When you delete your account, we remove your data from our live systems. It then remains only in routine backups for a short grace period before being permanently erased.
After that, your data is gone for good and cannot be recovered.
How long do you keep my data after I delete my account?
Deleted data is held in backups for up to 30 days as a safeguard, then permanently deleted. We may keep a minimal transaction record where the law requires it.

Do you sell my data to third parties?
No. We never sell your personal information, and we do not use your lists or items for advertising.
We share data only with the trusted providers needed to run the service, such as our database, payment, and email providers, as described in our Privacy Policy.
